Yes, every Friday unless a federal holiday falls on Friday in which case, the school will be closed and there won’t be DISCOVER NYC FRIDAYS that day.

No, DISCOVER NYC FRIDAYS is optional for every student attending a program at Manhattan Language. Participation in DISCOVER NYC FRIDAYS won’t affect the attendance of the students.

No, the number of lessons included in all Manhattan Language programs remains the same. The only difference is that the lessons have been condensed into a 4 day schedule (Monday to Thursday) so students have the option of attending DISCOVER NYC on Fridays.

No, the rich and varied Manhattan Language Activity program will remain the same. Students can still participate in fun activities and events after class most weekdays. We also offer activities on some weekends.

The actual schedule of DISCOVER NYC FRIDAYS will vary depending on the location and the nature of the event. It will always take place at regular lesson hours (9am to 4pm), and the duration will always be around 2-3 hours.

The cost of DISCOVER NYC FRIDAYS is included in the tuition price. DISCOVER NYC FRIDAYS will take place in location or venues that either don’t have any costs or a minimal fee for access. If, however, the student wants a grab a coffee or a drink while attending DISCOVER NYC FRIDAYS, that would be on him or her!

At Manhattan Language we’ll make sure that the cost of transportation for attending DISCOVER NYC FRIDAYS won’t be higher than the regular cost associated with getting to the school every day.

If the weather doesn’t cooperate, we’ll schedule a DISCOVER NYC FRIDAYS lesson indoors at one of the many popular New York landmarks. Fortunately, there are plenty of options in New York City!

Yes, DISCOVER NYC FRIDAYS will always be led by a teacher or a staff member.

Student Residence

The use of most facilities at the student residence is included in the accommodation fee. This includes the WIFI for your electronic devices. The student will have to pay to use the washer and dryer in the laundry room. The cost is approximately $2 per wash or dry.

All the Manhattan Language student residences have laundry facilities. You can wash your clothes there and the cost is around $2 per wash or dry.

Like Manhattan Language, other education institutions from New York City may be using the same student residence for their students. In all cases, these institutions are reputable organizations from the same industry and their students have similar profiles and backgrounds as the Manhattan Language students.

Yes, all the Manhattan Language student residences have kitchen facilities where students can cook their meals. Pots and pans are also provided.

Manhattan Language provides the bed linens but students must bring their own towel.

All the Manhattan Language student residences have gym facilities, and the use is included in the accommodation fee.

We partner with student residences in various parts of New York City, but your commute to the school won’t be longer than 30 minutes by public transportation.

Homestay

A standard homestay room includes a bed, closet or dresser space, towels and bed linens, and use of a shared bathroom. All rooms have windows. Most rooms include a desk and chair. A premium room includes a bed, closet or dresser space, towels and bed linens, and use of a private bathroom. Premium rooms may also include an additional amenity, such as a private entrance, a private floor or a kitchenette.

Most of our homestays do not offer in-house laundry but are located within walking distance of a laundromat. Some homestays offer coin-operated washing machines and dryers.

Your host will provide continental breakfast items for you but are not required to prepare the food. Your host will show you how to access your breakfast items upon your arrival.

We will never choose your homestay host without your input! Your application will ask you about your homestay preferences and needs. Our homestay program coordinator will review this information and provide you with a number of possible hosts and locations to choose from, based on availability.

We partner with homestay hosts in many parts of New York City, and all of our hosts are located close to the subway. The commute time varies depending on location. However, a one-way commute should not be more than 45 minutes on the subway.

We only partner with hosts who can provide a safe and clean environment during your stay. However, visitors to any city should always be aware of their surroundings while walking around or using public transportation.
