One of the best ways to practice your English while learning about American culture is to live in a homestay with a host family. This is a great opportunity for you to immerse yourself in the language and get an authentic American experience. We have different types of homestays available in different parts of the city. Our hosts offer either a single furnished room if you are traveling alone, or a double furnished room that can accommodate two people.
Towels and bed linens are also included in your stay. Most of our hosts also offer complimentary Wi-fi. All Homestays include a continental breakfast and is made available at a time that is mutually convenient (coffee, tea or milk, bread or toast, fruit, jam, butter, etc.). Dinner plans are available for an additional cost.
Guests can choose between a standard or premium homestay. Standard homestays include a shared bathroom. Premium homestays include a private bathroom and may also include additional amenities, such as a private entrance or a kitchenette.

What is the difference between a Standard Homestay and Premium Homestay?
A standard homestay room includes a bed, closet or dresser space, towels and bed linens, and use of a shared bathroom. All rooms have windows. Most rooms include a desk and chair.A premium room includes a bed, closet or dresser space, towels and bed linens, and use of a private bathroom. Premium rooms may also include an additional amenity, such as a private entrance, a private floor or a kitchenette.
Where can I wash my clothes?
Most of our homestays do not offer in-house laundry, but are located within walking distance of a laundromat. Some homestays offer coin-operated washing machines and dryers.
Will my host cook breakfast for me?
Your host will provide continental breakfast items for you, but are not required to prepare the food. Your host will show you how to access your breakfast items after your arrival.
Do I get to decide who my host will be?
We will never choose your homestay host without your input! Your application will ask you about your homestay preferences and needs. Our homestay program coordinator will review this information, and provide you with a number of possible hosts and locations to choose from, based on availability.
How far are the homestays from Manhattan Language?
We work with homestay hosts in many parts of New York City, and all of our hosts are located close to the subway, and the commute time varies depending on location. However, a one-way commute should not be more than 45 minutes on the subway.
Does my host live in a safe neighborhood?
We only work with hosts who are able to provide a safe and clean environment during your stay. However, visitors of any city should always be aware of their surroundings while walking around or using public transportation.
